Discover the 2019 Kia Optima

Get to know the refreshed 2019 Kia Optima midsize sedan!

The midsize sedan segment is highly competitive, but our 2019 Kia Optima stands strong against its challengers! To show you why this model is so popular, we'll go over the Optima's style, long list of advanced safety features, and the performance specs. We'll also touch on key technologies and available packages across the four-trim lineup.

Style

The Optima received a mild refresh for the 2019 model year. If you're familiar with the Kia lineup, you might notice that the Optima's new headlight design looks pretty similar to the performance-heavy Kia Stinger's. The wheel designs for many trims also got a few new additions, and you know how much the right wheels can help your car stand out and inspire a bit of envy.

If you want the most stylish interiors, we suggest going with the top EX and SX trims. On the EX you'll get standard heated, leather-trimmed seats that are comfortable and attractive. If you want even more luxury, the SX trim has a higher-quality nappa leather package!

Safety

In this segment a top-seller is expected to have at least one or two advanced safety features on the base model to stand out.  Lucky for us, the Optima goes all in from the get go and gives shoppers a massive list of technologies. Even on the base LX you'll get the following:

  • Lane departure warning
  • Lane keeping assist
  • Lane change assist
  • Forward collision warning
  • Forward collision avoidance assist
  • Blind spot collision warning
  • Rear cross traffic collision warning
  • Driver attention warning
  • Parking distance warning (for when you're reversing)

Once you get to the EX trim you'll also receive pedestrian detection added onto the forward collision avoidance assist. Another addition is smart cruise control with stop/go that is great on the highway and in the city. It goes without saying, but Bluetooth for hands-free calling and a backup camera are standard.

Performance

You'll get several engine options when you're considering which Optima you want to buy or lease. The LX and S trims have 2.4L engine with 185 horsepower. The transmission is a 6-speed Sportmatic®. The EX has a 1.6L turbo engine and a 7-speed dual-clutch Sportmatic® transmission. Power is down a little, as you'll get 178 horsepower. However, this trim offers the best EPA estimated fuel ratings.

The SX has the biggest engine. It's ideal for shoppers who like a bit of power when they push on the pedal or those who use the Optima as a family car and thus need a stronger engine because there's extra people aboard. The SX has a 2.0L turbo engine, 245 horsepower, and a 6-speed Sportmatic® transmission. With this trim you'll even get paddle shifters for a little more control, and you'll notice a difference when driving thanks to the sport-tuned suspension that the other trims don't have.

Technology

The Optima clearly has a ton of safety technologies, but what about convenience tech? Don't worry. You're still covered there!

All trims come standard with an 8-inch touchscreen along with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone integrations. Power-seating for the driver and front passenger is standard on most trims, and if you like a good playlist or podcast you can get a premium Harman Kardon system.

Each trim has its own set of packages in case you want a few more features. Below are our favorite possible add-ons for each trim.

  • LX: power-seating for driver
  • S: panoramic sunroof
  • EX: premium navigation and a heated steering wheel
  • SX: surround view monitor

As you can see, the 2019 Kia Optima brings a lot to the table, plus it has a great reputation. Stop into our dealership this week to check out our selection, go on a test drive, and meet with our financing department to over monthly payment options and incentives!
